The École le jet d'Ancre was founded in September 2004 mainly to answer the demand for professional training in Creative Journaling. Its founder, the art therapist Anne-Marie Jobin, had started to teach this method in 1998 and she has not ceased to develop it since.
In French, jet d'Ancre means "casting the anchor", but is also a pun with jet d'encre, which means ink jet. The school's mission is therefore to allow people to cast an anchor within themselves through their creative work. The school promotes and develops simple yet efficient self-help tools, allowing people to find their anchor in the midst of modern life in order to feel better and make better decisions. Creative Journaling uses art and writing as gates to allow people to explore their inner life and nourish their creativity.
The main tool that is being promoted by the school is Creative Journaling. There are many different approaches to Creative Journaling but the jet d'Ancre puts forth the one developed specifically by Anne-Marie Jobin. Many certified instructors are now active in Canada (mainly in Quebec) and also in Europe. See the list below.
Anne-Marie Jobin also offers art therapy group workshops and other activities related to the creative process. She gives conferences and is active in the development of the school. She is also the author of 4 books (all in French). See her biography for more details.
The École le jet d'Ancre is located in Granby, Québec but the workshops, professional trainings and conferences can also be offered outside of this area. The adress of the school is 164 Cowie, # 335, Granby but the mailing adress is as follows: C.P 13, Granby, Canada, J2G 8E2.
Born in Quebec City in 1963, Anne-Marie Jobin studied in Social Work in Montreal (UQAM, 1987) then moved to Vancouver where she was trained in Art Therapy (Vancouver Art Therapy Institute, 1994). She now lives in the Eastern Townships, Quebec.
She started keeping a personal journal in 1976 but it took her 14 years before starting to add drawing to her journaling process. Her passion for this work, for art therapy, creative writing and for the creative process brought her to develop her own Creative Journaling method, which she has been teaching in different settings since 1998. She founded the École le jet d'Ancre in 2004 in order to train professionals to this method.
